Rent relief for NYC can be obtained from several sources.
You can use a temporary lease (usually for a short period of time) or rent an apartment.
But if you need to get rid of your current rent-controlled apartment, you can apply for rent relief through the New York State Rent Relief Program.
To qualify for rent reduction, you must be living in a rent-restricted apartment in the city and have been for the last 6 months.
If you’re renting an apartment, the rent reduction is not automatic.
You need to show the city that you are able to live without paying rent for the first 6 months, and you must submit proof of your income.
Once you are eligible, the city can rent the apartment to you.
The city will usually only accept an apartment with a rent payment equal to 30% of your rent.
If the rent payment is less than 30%, the city may ask you to pay a higher rent payment, which may include the amount you paid to rent out your apartment.
There are some restrictions on the number of people who can rent an empty apartment.
If there are no other available apartments, the apartment owner must either lease it to you or sell it.
You may also need to pay the rent, which can be a problem for those who are on disability or low income.
Rent relief can be paid by rent-paid rental units or rent payments made by the New Yorker Rent Assistance Program (NRAP).
The NRAP is administered by the Housing Authority of New York.
Rent vouchers for rent payments can be purchased from the New Yorkers Rent Assistance program.

You must apply for the rent relief before the city pays it.
To get a rent reduction or rent relief, you need a valid NYS ID and a rental agreement.
You will be required to pay $150 in rent for a temporary apartment, which will not be eligible for rent reductions or rent reductions after 6 months of occupancy.
